MEET DORIYAN COLEMAN

A Cleveland-based Photographer, Writer, and Educator

Doriyan’s imagery explores the human condition through fleeting moments, capturing the hidden poetry in everyday life. Utilizing photography as a life-enhancing, history-making craft, his work embodies universal, timeless themes such as community, individuality, and the sublimity of nature.

Doriyan often collaborates with the legendary camera brand, Fujifilm, for fine art and digital media, and has most recently had his photography exhibited by Cleveland Play House. In May 2025, his collection, Togetherness, was displayed in Play House’s inaugural exhibition for their Hall of Mirrors gallery.

Alongside his frequent collaborators LAND Studio and MetroHealth, various works of his are permanently exhibited at the MetroHealth Glick Center. From Fall 2022 to Spring 2023, in collaboration with LAND, his image, Public Square, was mounted on the Cleveland Public Square Art Wall.

For the 2022-2023 school year, he was an In-School Artist in Residence via the TeachArtsOhio grant, where he designed and taught innovative photography classes to the students of Urban Community School. He went on to instruct additional programs for University Circle and Cuyahoga Community College through Spring 2024.

On his YouTube Channel, Doriyan delves into photography theory, history, and gear, offering a deeper understanding of the craft. He also publishes Camera Flow, a free newsletter exploring photography, creative philosophy, and the artist’s relationship with modern culture.

“Doriyan’s work beautifully reflects the energy and emotion of community life in Cleveland,” said Sheffia Randall-Nickerson, UCI Chief Engagement and Collaboration Officer. “We’re thrilled to welcome him as our next Artist in Residence and look forward to the ways his art will continue inspiring connection across our Circle.”
