The Joseph D. Pigott University Circle Leadership Award was established in 2001 and honors an individual who has made especially noteworthy contributions to University Circle.

For 16 years, Chris served as the President of University Circle Inc. He achieved measurable results, transforming Ohio’s education, medical, and cultural district into a thriving complete community. He delivered new and renovated neighborhood homes, developed after-school and summer programs, helped bring a grocery store to a food desert and connected small businesses to Cleveland’s arts, education, and healthcare institutions. Now, as the Cuyahoga County Executive, Chris continues to be a champion for growth and collaboration in University Circle, demonstrating outstanding civic responsibility.

Stephanie Tubbs Jones Neighborhood Leadership Award  

Barbara Wilcher – Norton

The Stephanie Tubbs Jones Neighborhood Leadership Award was created in 2008 to continue the legacy of Stephanie Tubbs Jones by awarding someone who has significantly impacted life in and around the Circle that increases accessibility, collaboration, and enjoyment.

Barbara has made a significant impact on life in and around University Circle that increases accessibility, collaboration, and enjoyment. As Chairperson for Glenville’s Neighbor to Neighbor community organization and an active participant in the CWRU Community Working Group, she works to understand and improve community relations between neighborhood residents, Circle institutions, real estate developers, and Cleveland leadership. Barbara continually provides guidance to find ways to build a deeper sense of community, embodying the spirit of a true leader.
