Opportunity: The Guest Services Department seeks part-time and full-time seasonal employees to be a part of the Guest Experience Team at Holden Forests & Gardens. The Guest Services department is looking for friendly and enthusiastic individuals to provide best-in-class customer service to the Cleveland Botanical Garden guests and members. This person will help welcome guests during the winter season to the grounds while answering general inquiries, promote membership, and contribute to a positive team atmosphere.
Position Details:
- Training will be held on November 12th or 13th
- Season runs November 22nd - January 4th
- Seasonal Role
- Approximately 16-40 hours per week
- Schedule includes weekends, ability to work rotating shifts, and some evenings
- No prior experience needed
- Love of trees, plants and people
- Pay $15.00 an hour

Guest Experiences Team Member:
- Support Holden Forests & Gardens’ mission, vision, and values and core commitment
- Actively welcome and receive guests, providing prompt and courteous service and orientation of the property, programs and events that support the mission and success of Holden Forests & Gardens
- Provide friendly, clear, and courteous customer service to encourage return visitation
- Process sales transactions for admission, membership, programs, and merchandise
- Quickly and accurately use the organization's computerized cash register system for constituent management and point-of-sale
- Answer guest telephone calls & emails and assist guests with in-person inquiries
- Maintain the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of public spaces, staff workspaces, and garden facilities
- Support on-site meetings and programs and assist with room set-up
- Ensure proper admission policies are being followed
- Ensure safety practices are being followed
- Provide prompt follow-up and relay information to supervisor as needed
- Occasional use of Microsoft Office 365 software, email, and calendar
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
- Knowledge and appreciation of gardening or nature
- High school diploma, or equivalent, preferred
- Customer service experience or desire to learn
- Willing and able to learn the computerized constituent management and point-of-sale system, Altru
- Knowledge and appreciation of gardening or nature
- Strong verbal communication skills and interest in working directly with guests
- Experience with cash handling, telephone etiquette, and retail experience, a plus
- Knowledge of University Circle museums, activities and events, a plus
- Reliable transportation
- Must pass a criminal background check
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Stand and sit for extended periods of time
- Transporting oneself by foot over a variety of terrain that may be wet, slippery, uneven or rocky
- Effective vision and hearing
- Hand and arm dexterity
- Lifting up to 10 pounds, occasionally 25
