The Parade, which begins at Noon at the north entrance of the museum, fills Wade Oval with colorful costumes, puppets, masks, and more created by local individuals and groups. New this year is the addition of Lead Artist, Héctor Castellanos Lara. This year’s theme is TRANSFORMATION (Dragonfly ǀ Libélula); a symbolic reminder that change is needed to grow. ADA seating will be available at the corner of Hazel Drive and East Boulevard on the Cleveland History Center property.
Before, during and after the Parade, Circle Village on Wade Oval will have tons of hands-on activities for all ages from local nonprofits and institutions, live music, and delectable food.
Temporary street closures for the event will be in place surrounding Wade Oval from approximately 9 am to 4 pm. Visit the "Getting Here" event section for more information.

Tree Cookie Craft: Make necklaces with wooden dragonfly pendants that you can color and customize! Lawn activities will also be out for families.

Parrotfish Transformation: Parrotfish transform to different colors and patterns as they progress through their life cycle. Kids can decorate their fish with the colorful pattern for whichever life phase they choose.
P.A.L.S. for Healing
Art Therapy Transforms - Participants can use fabric paint, stencils, stamps, and markers to symbolize their transformation onto a kitchen towel or a green bag to take home.

Decorate Your Own Mask - Decorate your own mask is a fun and creative experience that will give participants an opportunity for self-expression and personal style. Parade attendees are encouraged to express their artistic abilities and embrace their individuality by choosing from a dragonfly, butterfly, or an eye mask to decorate with vibrant explosions of color or an intricate and delicate design.
Sears think[box] x Zygote Press
Print Parade - Sears think[box] and Zygote work together to make letterpress prints! Participants will get a chance to print their own mini-zine cover on Zygote's Kelsey press using a printing block made using think[box]s CNC machine. After printing their covers, participants can assemble a blank book to write down all their ideas! Zygote will also have several CNC-routed type-high blocks available for parade-goers to view, and will also bring the Printmaking Suitcase, an educational tool that explains several printmaking processes. This includes examples of each process that participants can touch, as well as postcard take-away examples of RISO, intaglio, screen printing, and relief printing.
Transforming from Seed to Flower: The Lifestyle of a Sunflower - Participants will be able to trace the lifecycle of a sunflower from seed to sprout to full bloom with a fun sequencing activity to color, cut and glue! Use a magnifying glass to look at a sunflower close up! Plant a seed to bring home in a compostable cup with directions for planting outdoors. Spend the rest of the summer watching the seed sprout, grow and bloom. Collect the seeds from the plant to start all over again next year!

Dinos, Dunk & Other Devonian Fish - Join the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and become one of your favorite dinosaurs! Make a Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus rex, or Parasaurolophus mask to wear around the festival or color pictures of some of the animal ambassadors that live at the Museum. Plus, touch a real dinosaur fossil and learn about Ohio's state fossil fish, Dunkleosteus!

Book Box: The Cleveland Public Library Book Box at Wade Oval is a mini library that offers books and heirloom seed packets for checkout, library card registration, activities and crafts along with this year's Cleveland READS registration. Cleveland READS registration Cleveland Goal: In 2023, Clevelanders will collectively read One Million Books or Ten Million Minutes. Everyone who registers for Cleveland READS will receive a FREE book to get them started with the reading challenge. Seed Library In collaboration with the Cleveland Seed Bank, the Seed Library at Cleveland Public Library strive to preserve biodiversity and to promote local, heirloom varieties of plants. The Seed Library allows you to “check out” a packet of heirloom seeds, grow your own heritage vegetables or flowers, save seeds from the best plants, and then lend them to a friend or neighbor, participate in a “seed swap,” or use them yourself next year.
Button Making Station - Get creative and design your very own personalized button!
Team: A Piece of Us (...cont'd) - Participants will be able to design their own puzzle piece that resembles an expression of themselves, led by Teen Engagement Ambassadors at moCa (TEAM), the teen residency at Museum of Contemporary Art (moCa) Cleveland.
Creative Art, Literacy Inspired Activities - Art activities with pipecleaners or upcycled pages & covers of damaged books. Free books for young children while supplies last and for all Ohio families with children under age 5, sign up for free monthly books mailed to your home from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

Jump Rope Demonstrations & Activities - Healthy Jumping activity will be offered to build a healthy community with a simple jump rope challenge.
Art of Me Productions
Making Movies - Participants will have an opportunity to win movie tickets for the youth feature films Stream This! Film and Time out the movie, opening weekend at Shaker Square Theater. These films feature over 300 local youth. Participants can purchase movie memorbilia, double dutch jump ropes for the opening weekend or raffle tickets to win a variety of prizes including go carts featured in the movie.

University Circle is easily accessible by car from all directions. For driving directions to our University Circle Visitor Center use Google Maps to map your own route.
Important parking updates:
Handicapped parking is available for those with a clearly identified handicapped placard along Hazel Drive. Vehicles must enter Hazel off of Magnolia Drive and show the police officer stationed there the handicapped placard.
BY PUBLIC TRANSIT
Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) operates six (6) bus routes, plus the Euclid Avenue Health Line (bus rapid transit) and the Red Line (heavy rail) routes to and through the district. Use the Transit app for real-time bus and train info on the go and to purchase your ticket.
Cleveland is a Bicycle Friendly Community and getting to and around University Circle by bicycle is getting easier every year. Don't have your own bike? Use a shared e-scooter or e-bike provided by one of the participating companies in the City of Cleveland’s shared mobility program. Before you ride, consult this helpful guide from Bike Cleveland and this network map of cycling routes in the area, provided by the Heights Bicycle Coalition. Free bike valet on-site provided by Ohio City Bicycle Co-op! Located at the corner of East Boulevard and Bellflower Road.
The BlueLink connects Wade Oval, Uptown, Little Italy, Coventry and provides access to the Little Italy - University Circle Rapid Station. BlueLink shuttles arrive every 30 minutes 6:30am - 6:00pm (Mon-Fri) and 12:00pm - 6:00pm weekends.
The GreenLink connects the Cedar-University Circle Rapid Station to the University Hospitals and CWRU campuses. GreenLink service runs on a continuous loop between CWRU North and South campuses, with arrivals approximately every 30 minutes during operating hours and 20-minute peak service (Mon-Fri) between 6:30am - 10:00am and 4:00pm - 6:30pm.
