A beloved University Circle space is getting a refresh!
The Cleveland Museum of Art is beginning a major restoration of the historic Fine Arts Garden. The multi-year project will preserve the garden’s character while making it accessible and welcoming for many years to come.
Construction begins August 24, starting with the Zodiac Garden, Mall and new east and west Ovals. Improvements will include ADA-accessible walkways, restored historic paving, new landscaping and lighting, better drainage, and restoration work on the Fountain of the Waters.
While work is underway, there will still be plenty to enjoy. The museum will remain open, along with its galleries, dining, parking and programs. Wade Lagoon, the Nord Family Greenway, The Thinker, and the museum’s south steps will also be open and accessible.
And for those already looking forward to spring: the museum does not expect the work to disrupt cherry blossom season around Wade Lagoon.
The first phase of the restoration is expected to continue through summer 2027.
