Take a Hike in University Circle!
Posted on 07/27/18 in The Neighborhood
New to University Circle this 2018, Take a Hike! Explore Wade Park, the green heart of Cleveland’s cultural district, and Uptown, its vibrant commercial center along Euclid Avenue.
Tom Yablonsky, Executive Director of the Historic Gateway Neighborhood Corporation said about the tour,"The vision of the Take a Hike Program as part of the Ohio and Erie Canalway National Heritage Area is that we would expand Take a Hike to other key historic places. University Circle is one of the most prominent locations of Cleveland historic firsts, inventions, and cultural heritage. Thus, it was an obvious place to be the first tour outside of Downtown Cleveland."
See firsthand how classic meets contemporary in this dynamic neighborhood with over $4 billion of recent developments.
Meet Adella Prentiss Hughes and learn about the founding of The Cleveland Orchestra and the creation of its home at Severance Hall.
Tours meet every Saturday at 10 AM at the Wade Oval Information Center (10820 East Blvd).
University Circle is easily accessible by public transit and bike. Look for the flower shaped bike racks in front of the Cleveland Botanical Garden. If you don’t have a bike, consider bike share through UHBikes. The nearest UHBikes station is on Wade Oval in front of the Cleveland Museum of Art. Street parking is available along Wade Oval Drive, East Blvd and Magnolia Drive. The Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland Botanical Garden, Cleveland Museum of Natural History and Cleveland History Center all have parking garages nearby.
