Posted October 03, 2024 in Press Releases
University Circle Inc. (UCI) is pleased to announce the first annual State of the Circle event, scheduled for Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the Cleveland History Center. This event offers a unique opportunity for community members to connect, engage in meaningful discussions, and celebrate the vibrant future of University Circle.
Attendees will hear from UCI leadership about the exciting new initiatives and strategies that will shape the Circle’s development, with a focus on the importance of people, places, and stories in driving this vision forward.
UCI President Kate Borders said, “We are excited to share what we are up to this year with our friends and colleagues. This is transparency in action!”
In addition to these updates, UCI will take the opportunity to recognize and honor local leaders who have made significant contributions to the University Circle community. The evening will include the presentation of two prestigious awards:
- Stephanie Tubbs Jones Neighborhood Leadership Award: The Stephanie Tubbs Jones Neighborhood Leadership Award honors a person, family, or organization that has made significant contributions to University Circle and the Greater University Circle Neighborhoods.
Sonia Winner, President & CEO of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History
The Cleveland Museum of Natural History is a key University Circle landmark, and their ongoing transformation ushers in a new era for the museum experience. “I am honored to receive this award and to be part of the vibrant cultural center that is University Circle,” says Winner. “As part of the Circle, the Museum is proud to serve as a welcoming place for our community.”
- Joseph D. Pigott Leadership Award: The Joseph D. Pigott University Circle Leadership Award was established in 2001 and honors an individual who has made especially noteworthy contributions to University Circle.
Gary Hanson
“I couldn’t be more thrilled than to have Gary Hanson receiving this prestigious award,” said Kate Borders. “He’s done so much as a leader in the arts and he set me up for success as the UCI interim president. I’m still trying to fill his rather large shoes!”
Tickets for the event are a suggested donation of $50 each, with sponsorships available.
We invite all members of the community to join us for an evening of connection, celebration, and inspiration. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of shaping the future of University Circle and to honor the outstanding leaders who contribute to our vibrant community.
