UNIVERSITY CIRCLE, Ohio (WOIO) - The police department just began a “new and unique” Police Ambassador program.
University Circle Police Chief Thomas Wetzel said his department has partnered with HELP Foundation, Inc. and Magnolia Clubhouse to provide jobs for eligible candidates.
“These Police Ambassadors are overcoming and knocking down challenges and we are so happy to be have them work with us,” said Chief Wetzel.
Sherena Whaley is the department’s first UCPD Police Ambassador.
Whaley’s duties will include: clerical assistance at the station, greeting people at the dispatch window and helping them get the assistance they need, and participating in community policing events.
“You will see her smiling face around our special community so please say hello to her when you see her,” said Chief Wetzel.
