Once a child prodigy, accomplished pianist Mathias Vogler (François Civil) returns to his hometown to reunite with his mentor, Elena (Charlotte Rampling), to prepare a series of duets. A chance meeting with Claude, a former lover, and the sighting of a boy in a park who looks much like him, forces Mathias to explore his past and what could have been. “The melodrama begins at such a high pitch, you might think it has nowhere to go but down, yet this earnestly inflamed tale of art, grief, betrayal and all-consuming amour on steroids keeps finding new ways to surprise” Guy Lodge, Variety.
