BEETHOVEN Leonore Overture No. 3
Opening with arguably the most famous four notes in all music, Beethoven’s Fifth launched the symphonic form into thrilling new dimensions. Music Director Franz Welser-Möst leads this indomitable work alongside the composer’s Leonore Overture No. 3, an ode to freedom taken from his only opera, Fidelio. Rounding out the program is Janáček’s emotionally charged Suite from From the House of the Dead, which depicts the brutality of life in a Siberian prison camp.
