University Circle Inc. Welcomes Photographer and Educator Doriyan Coleman as 2025–2026 Artist in Residence
CLEVELAND, OH — University Circle Inc. (UCI) is proud to announce that Cleveland-based photographer, writer, and educator Doriyan Coleman has been selected as the organization’s 2025–2026 Artist in Residence. Coleman's work explores the human condition through fleeting moments, revealing the hidden poetry in everyday life. His photography embodies universal themes such as community, individuality, and the beauty of nature.
Coleman has collaborated with renowned organizations including Fujifilm, LAND Studio, and MetroHealth. His fine art photography has been exhibited by Cleveland Play House, where his collection Togetherness was featured in the inaugural Hall of Mirrors gallery in May 2025. His public installations include Public Square, displayed on the Cleveland Public Square Art Wall in partnership with LAND Studio, and several permanent works at the MetroHealth Glick Center.
“Doriyan’s work beautifully reflects the energy and emotion of community life in Cleveland,” said Sheffia Randall-Nickerson, UCI Chief Engagement and Collaboration Officer. “We’re thrilled to welcome him as our next Artist in Residence and look forward to the ways his art will continue inspiring connection across our Circle.”
Through the Artist in Residence program, UCI continues its mission to connect art, culture, and community by empowering local artists and providing platforms for creative expression. Coleman's residency will run from December 2025 through November 2026, featuring a year-long exhibition, two seasonal community art classes.
The residency will officially open with a public reception on December 10, 2025. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet the artist, view his latest works, and learn more about how UCI uses art to strengthen connections between people and place.
University Circle is more than a destination for education and culture, it is a space for creative collaboration. By supporting artists like Doriyan, we continue to build a community that values art as a force for engagement and inspiration.
