CirclEats: The Coffee House at University Circle

The latest CirclEats features The Coffee House at University Circle, located at 11300 Juniper Rd. We recently met with Eric Meyer, General Manager and Partner of the business, who has been with The Coffee House for 20 years! Daily, Eric manages the staff, assists with baking and food prep, manages the accounting and logistics, and is even seen as a smiling face at the counter, serving your morning coffee and pastries!







Within this home-like building, customers can enjoy fresh-brewed coffees and teas, as well as homemade pastries and foods, all prepared by Eric and staff daily. When asked about working at The Coffee House, Eric notes "It's kind of like a bar - not in the 'craziness' sense, but in the sense that you have regulars that become part of your life. We have customers that visit us daily, and not only is it great to be able to know their order and what they enjoy, but they become like-family to us. As a staff, we like to operate as a family and treat eachother as such - I mean, we are running a business inside a house. But what's really great is when we're able to welcome customers into that family, get to know them, and have a great, friendly connection with them."







Back to the in-house baked goods, Eric also notes the early-morning daily wakeup calls to The Coffee House in order to prepare that day's treats, "We start every morning prepping the dough for the scones, hand-folding the croissants, making our muffins from scratch - we really pride ourselves on the fact that we make everything ourselves. Not only because it's something great to be able to say, but we're allowed the quality control, and know that we're providing great, high-quality treats to our customers."







Being in such close proximity to Case Western Reserve University, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and the Cleveland Institute of Art, it's assumed that the multiple rooms and areas of the coffee shop are filled with students hard at work on projects, or studying for the next exam. Eric also mentions that quite a few of the shop's regulars are from neighboring institutions such as the Cleveland Botanical Garden, the Cleveland Museum of Art, as well as University Hospitals! "We really like the wide variety of customers that pay us visits - from international students, to area employees and even visiting tourists from other countries, we're really placed in a great spot and love being a part of this community."
