The Rink at Wade Oval Opens for the Season on Friday, Dec. 2

Take winter out for a spin on the fresh ice at The Rink at Wade Oval, which opens for the season Dec. 2. The Rink is presented by University Circle Inc. (UCI) with the help of sponsor PNC Bank.

The Rink’s season runs through Feb. 26. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students, and skate rentals are $3 for adults and $2 for students, making this a fun and affordable winter experience. Visitors can bring their own skates or rent them onsite. A concession stand will feature seasonal treats, including hot cocoa, coffee and a variety of snacks.

In addition to skating, many visit the museums and restaurants in the University Circle area, which provides a boost to the neighborhood economy,” said Pat Pastore, PNC regional president for Cleveland. “Supporting The Rink at Wade Oval also reinforces our commitment to bringing opportunities for residents and visitors to gather together and enjoy all the city has to offer.”

Seasonal programming at The Rink will include free skating lessons from noon – 1 p.m., Saturdays, the popular annual “Pink the Rink” throughout Valentine’s Day weekend, and special open skate hours on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Presidents Day.

“The Rink at Wade Oval is so much more than a beautiful place to visit,” said Becky Voldrich, UCI’s senior director of Communications & Events. “It’s a place for the community to gather and create special memories with their families and friends. We’ve had so many amazing moments take place at The Rink over the years – everything from kids trying on their first pair of skates to a marriage proposal. It doesn’t get much better than that!”
