CLEVELAND, May 14, 2020 – University Circle Inc. has teamed up with Never, Ever Give Up Cleveland to bring the “Big Yellow Mailbox” to University Circle. The mailbox, located in the University Circle East Plaza at the corner of Euclid Ave. and Mayfield Rd., collects completely anonymous stories and letters and shares them with the public.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project asks individuals to share letters that express gratitude, support, or encouragement. The letters aim to reach Clevelanders and people throughout the world who have been adversely affected by COVID-19 with messages of hope.
“Now more than ever, it’s important to be able to connect with others,” said Chris Ronayne, president of University Circle Inc. “Letters of Hope is the perfect way to reach one another with inspiration, empathy, and support. Every day we see the inspiring work of our healthcare and front-line workers in University Circle and beyond. This is one more way to reach our hometown heroes and heroes across the globe fighting this pandemic with messages of encouragement from our University Circle family.”
“When it seems like you are powerless against the hurt and suffering you see, creating hope and sharing it with others is a way to take back some of that power. Hope is essential as we move forward. We need people to keep creating light in our world,” says Allison Meyer, creator of Never, Ever Give Up Cleveland.
