What better setting to watch the Cleveland-filmed "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" than Cleveland, in the winter? None, of course. So it's really not that surprising that the folks at University Circle Inc. have chosen the film for the first movie night of the year at Wade Oval, on Saturday, Jan. 24.
Of course, this time of year WOW stands for Wade Oval Winter, not Wednesday. The movie will be shown at the Rink at Wade Oval at 5 p.m. Saturday, but skating begins at noon and runs till 7 p.m.
Movie night isn't the only special event on the January Rink schedule. They will also be offering free skating lessons every Saturday through March, a figure-skating demonstration from the Winterhurst Skating Club on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m., and a snowman-building contest throughout January and February. (Build a snowman on Wade Oval, take a photo and use #wadeovalwinter or post on their Facebook page. The best snowman wins a weekend package in the Circle including a night's stay, passes to attractions and restaurant certificates.)
Admission to the rink is $2. Skate rentals are $3. The rink is open from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more info on the rink and lessons, call 216-707-5033 or visithttp://www.universitycircle.org/events/2014/11/wade-oval-winter.
