THE MUSIC SETTLEMENT EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOL PROGRAMS
RECEIVE 5-STAR AWARD
Highest Step Up To Quality Rating, best non-Head-Start Preschool in Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Ohio, Nov. 11, 2014 – The Music Settlement of University Circle announced today that its Preschool, Day School, and Kindergarten was awarded “a 5-Star Rating for meeting the quality standard established by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and the Ohio Department of Education,” according to the State of Ohio.

The 5-Star Award is the highest-possible award. The Music Settlement is the first program in Cleveland to receive a 5-Star Award from Step Up To Quality and is one of five programs in Cuyahoga County to reach this level of excellence.

According to the Settlement’s congratulatory certificate from the State of Ohio, “Step Up To Quality is a Five-Star Tiered Quality Rating and Improvement System created to recognize and promote early learning and development programs that meet quality standards over and above the health and safety licensing requirements.”

“We have always known that our music-infused, process-based school programs are unique to Cleveland,” said TMS President and CEO Charles Lawrence. “It’s wonderful to receive this highest-possible rating in advance of our new-family Open House events on November 16 and January 11.”

The Music Settlement’s Preschool, Day School, and Kindergarten also exceed the national quality standards established by Universal Pre-Kindergarten of Cuyahoga County. Parents are encouraged to attend the free Early Childhood Open House events on Nov. 16 and Jan. 11, both from 1:00-2:30 at 11125 Magnolia Dr., Cleveland 44106.

“We are thrilled with the efforts of our faculty and staff to meet the rigor of requests during the two-day review process, while continuing to teach and provide outstanding-quality education for our young students and families,” said Center for Early Childhood Chair Karen Heitlinger. “It’s truly our honor to provide the best early childhood educational programs for our youngest greater Clevelanders.”
