AAWR presents, Art Bites: Artists Talk with Dobbserwocky: Robes to Perdition creator Anne T. Kmieck. Join us in the galleries at AAWR for an exploration of the inspirations, collaborations and methods used by artist Anne Kmieck in the creation of “Dobbserwocky: Robes to Perdition”. Inspired by the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade - a decision that has lead to a critical decrease in agency and medical choice for women across our country, Anne Kmieck playfully explores the unspoken premise, underlying the 2022 Supreme Court ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade: abortion is the sin. Filtered through a Dadaist lens, and wrapped in imagery from Dante's Inferno and William Blake's illustrations for that epic poem, Kmieck's work is a multi-layered response to this tragic decision. Tickets are free via the Eventbrite link, but are required for attendance and planning purposes.
