This concert, the second in our ‘Classically Lake View’ chamber music series, will feature rising Oberlin Conservatory senior Damian Goggans (guitar) performing with musicians from The Cleveland Orchestra.
Enjoy selections spanning nearly 300 years of music by African American composers, including Justin Holland, “King of Ragtime” Scott Joplin, and William Grant Still, the first African American conductor of a professional symphony orchestra in the United States. Also included in the program are works from Florence Price, the first African American woman to have a composition played by a major orchestra.
Guests are invited to a meet and greet the musicians following the concert. This performance will take place inside the Community Mausoleum and last approximately 60 minutes.
Classically Lake View is a series of four chamber music concerts under the artistic direction of The Cleveland Orchestra violinist Isabel Trautwein, featuring an ensemble of The Cleveland Orchestra musicians alongside outstanding young artists.
