Watch for major changes in Cleveland Independents’ upcoming Cleveland Restaurant Week, November 1-13, 2021.
While the majority of the 30-or-so restaurant participants will feature three course prix fixe dinners, the price increases this year from $33 to $36. “Food prices are escalating, and restaurants are feeling the crunch. After researching how other major metropolitan areas have handled their Restaurant Week promotions, we discovered that, in every instance, they have increased their pricing. We are following suit,” says Myra Orenstein, Acting Executive Director of the 16-year-old local restaurant organization.
That’s not the only change. With the onset of the pandemic last year, members introduced a carryout option. Carryout continues to be an option in November as Covid impacts the restaurant industry.
And there’s more. “Some members simply cannot afford to offer prix fixe pricing on weekends. Many will feature weekend specials opting to limit the prix fixe dinners to Monday through Thursday or Friday,” Orenstein adds. Menus featured on the Cleveland Restaurant Week website will prominently display this information, where applicable.
Cleveland Restaurant Week is Cleveland Independents’ largest marketing promotion. Menus and participating restaurants will appear on www.clevelandrestaurantweek.com beginning the week of October 17.
