Celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in University Circle. Enjoy special programs and activities in honor of Dr. King throughout the week.

UCI will provide free shuttle buses on Monday, January 21 from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. to take visitors to the museums and organizations offering special activities. The shuttle will run a continuous loop between Cleveland History Center, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, The Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland Botanical Garden, Severence Hall, Cleveland Public Library, Martin Luther King, Jr. Branch; and moCa Cleveland.

Each year, Case Western Reserve University honors Martin Luther King Jr.—the holiday, the man and the legacy—with a celebration that includes a range of activities including workshops, films, panel discussions and acclaimed speakers. Church of the Covenant

Worship with The Church of The Covenant, January 20, at 10:00 AM, The weekend of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The Cleveland School of the Arts’ R. Nathaniel Dett Concert Choir, Robert McCorvey, director & Dr. William Woods, director emeritus, will be participating in worship along with the Covenant Chancel Choir.

The Music Settlement
3:00 - 4:30 p.m.
Join The Music Settlement for a special family-friendly concert on Sunday, January 20thto honor Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Vocal and instrumental performances by students and faculty will feature classical, jazz and gospel styles of music by African American composers. The annual concert will take place at the University Circle location in Glick Recital Hall.

Enjoy special open skate hours during Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Enjoy a full day of themed public programs in tribute to Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy, including a teach in with Dr. Hasan Kwame Jeffries, an esteemed scholar of the civil rights movement; affirmative action political sign-making with Favianna Rodriguez; and a For Freedoms Town Hall Panel on the topic of protest, petition and civil disobedience, moderated by Dan Moulthrop of The City Club of Cleveland.

Cleveland Museum of Natural History
10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Enjoy this special free day with CMNH! Meet curators and investigate specimens from their collections. Enjoy a mini planetarium show, and visit the Smead Discovery Center to make a take-home craft.

Cleveland Botanical Garden
10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
The Cleveland Botanical Garden will be open from 10am to 5pm on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 21. There will be free admission for all, as well as special family programming.

The Baseball Heritage Museum
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. often spoke of the inspiration he received from baseball pioneers such as Jackie Robinson and Larry Doby. For one day, The Baseball Heritage Museum will highlight these special connections. Plus, kids can make an "I Have a Dream" craft.

The Cleveland Orchestra
12:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Join The Cleveland Orchestra for a day full of musical performances at Severance Hall, with line dancing and a live DJ in between performances, as well as ongoing family-friendly activities, including the “I Have a Dream” Wall, Martin Luther King Jr. Day Activity Sheets, and Cuyahoga County Public Library Book Display in the Smith Lobby.

Cleveland Museum of Art
11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with family and friends through themes of peace and collective action. The day includes dance, music, theater, and spoken-word performances by youth from the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society (in collaboration with the Cleveland School of the Arts and Cleveland Institute of Music), Cleveland Public Theatre’s Brick City Theatre, Tri-C Creative Arts Dance Academy, Rainey Institute’s El Sistema, Sisterhood, and Twelve Literary Arts. Enjoy a Wikipedia-Edit-a-Thon and an open house in the museum’s Ingalls Library and Museum Archives, art activities, and a variety of in-gallery experiences and tours for visitors of all ages.

Cleveland Public Library's 34th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Program - Join Cleveland Public Library in commemorating King’s life and honoring his legacy of leadership in the struggle for civil rights through music, performance, and inspirational words. Keynote address presented by activist, humanitarian, and evangelist Dr. Yvonne Pointer.
