The following charts represent just a sample of the activities of University Circle Police Department. Our agency is a full-service police department ready to serve the entire University Circle neighborhood, including all residents, employees, visitors, and passers-by who find themselves in need of assistance while in “The Circle.”
In 2024, UCPD began formally tracking our Outreach initiatives to better communicate and measure the impact of our efforts—though many of these activities have long been a part of our department. These scheduled events, separate from routine patrols, are designed to engage various audiences, including the general community, youth (through programs like Cop Scouts and We Tip Our Badge), and our institutional partners, to whom we provide complimentary training on topics such as First Aid, De-escalation, and Active Shooter response. UCPD also hosted several “Law Enforcement” training sessions and Think Tanks, led by Chief Wetzel, which brought police professionals from across Ohio to University Circle to discuss best practices in policing. Additionally, our officers and staff regularly participate in charitable volunteer activities—such as the Plane Pull, Torch Run, and Polar Plunge—to support Special Olympics Ohio. The data reflected here represents our outreach efforts to date in 2024
