The Cleveland Orchestra has been for decades a point of pride in its hometown. It is universally admired for its world-class credentials, its gifted musicians, and its acoustically perfect and visually stunning concert hall. The orchestra welcomes people of all ages, all walks of life, and invites them to experience something that is unique in the world.
We are currently seeking a Manager of Youth Choruses who will manage the operations of the youth ensembles of The Cleveland Orchestra, comprising roughly 170 students in grades 5-12. Responsibilities include season planning, budgeting, marketing, scheduling, and managing auditions, rehearsals, and concerts. The Manager also collaborates with the adult choruses and The Cleveland Orchestra on various artistic, educational, and community engagement initiatives, and assumes responsibility in the absence of the Manager of Choruses.
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required, with focus in arts administration, theater, music education, or similar course of study preferred.
2 + years of experience in management of people and logistics.
Computer skills including Google platforms and databases, such as ArtsVision and Tessitura.
Superior interpersonal and communication skills to successfully interact with a broad range of personalities, constituencies, and diverse groups of young people and adults.
Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
Highly adaptable problem solver.
Demonstrated independent, mature judgment.
Ability to consistently maintain a professional image and demeanor.
Ability to quickly assess and resolve conflict in a diplomatic manner.
Ability to successfully prioritize and manage deadlines.
Must be able to travel between locations (Severance Hall, Blossom Music Center, offsite rehearsal locations); to local and regional events; and for occasional domestic tours.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
