Join TMS at BOP STOP on Sunday, January 15th for a concert celebrating the life and mission of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through music and the written word.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Concert - SOLD OUT as of 1/10/23
The program includes music by Black composers Florence Price and William L. Dawson, among several others, as well as Aaron Copland’s tribute to the 16th President of the United States, A Lincoln Portrait, marking 80 years since its premier. The concert concludes with the uplifting and powerful hymn, “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 2023 Community Service Awards will be presented as part of the January 15 concert. Although the concert is free, tickets are required and available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 10:00 a.m..

On Monday, January 16, 2023, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History will welcome all guests, free of charge, in celebration of Discovery Day. Each year, cultural, civic, and science institutions honor the memory of Martin Luther King Jr. by inviting all members of the community to enjoy their spaces, exhibits, and attractions at no cost. This Discovery Day, connect with Museum scientists, watch wildlife presentations, take part in hands-on activities, and more.

Come together at the Cleveland Museum of Art for a free daylong celebration honoring Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Explore the theme “It Starts with Me: Cultivating a Beloved Community Mindset to Transform Unjust Systems” through storytelling, art making, and reflective writing prompts. The museum will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with activities and tours from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Cleveland Public Library, in partnership with WOIO 19News, will recognize everyday Clevelanders who have worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life in our city during the 37th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Celebration.

Join CBG to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Admission is free! The indoor gardens will be open to explore along with activities for the whole family. Their focus will be on The National Day of Service and how in the spirit of MLK Jr. learning about and planting trees is a service to you and your community. Programs will be available for drop in between 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

2023 MLK Convocation
Author Nic Stone will headline the 2023 MLK Convocation on Friday, January 20 at 12:45 p.m. in the Kelvin and Eleanor Smith Foundation Ballroom in the Tinkham Veale University Center. She has put her passionate convictions into practice in her award-winning novels, which have been lauded by NPR (her books have appeared twice on NPR’s Best Books of the Year list), The Atlantic, and Publishers Weekly. Stone’s New York Times bestseller Dear Martin was a William C. Morris Award Finalist and was called “an unforgettable tour de force of social justice” by Booklist. The Horn Book has lauded how Nic’s writing—which includes blockbusters Dear Justyce, Odd One Out, Jackpot, and Clean Getaway as memorable, beautiful, and captivating.
This event is free and open to the campus community and general public but online registration is required.

Cozad-Bates House Interpretive Center
The Cozad-Bates House is the only pre-Civil War home remaining in University Circle. A new interpretive center highlights this area’s history as a center of anti-slavery activism and honors those seeking freedom through indoor exhibits and outdoor installations.
