Future Connections provides a dynamic eight-week college and career readiness experience for rising high school seniors.
Do you want to counsel and teach children in summer camps? Research and implement your own science experiments? Curate and build models of art exhibits? Create an implementation plan for solving problems? This is not your typical summer job!
Besides a $1500 stipend, Future Connections provides exceptional summer learning experiences that encourage skill, career, and personal development. Selected students work under the guidance and mentorship of Greater Cleveland professionals and participate in workshops to support their internship, including leadership development, interviewing skills, resume writing, and financial literacy. They have opportunities to network with professionals, learn workplace skills and gain knowledge for future academic and career pursuits.
Students are selected following a formal application and competitive interview process. They engage in project-based internships, under the guidance and mentorship of professionals in a variety of career fields, for four weeks in a University Circle institution and four weeks in a Greater Cleveland area business. A series of workshops to build life and personal development skills occur before and at the midpoint of the program. The summer experience ends with a recognition ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of the students. Future Connections also provides a series of workshops during the participants’ senior year to help them prepare for college.
Since beginning in 1997, Future Connections has served over 1,200 high school students
The Future Connections Program is open to students who attend schools in the following school districts:
