Come explore your community! University Circle Inc.'s (UCI) newest summer camp, Circle Explorers, will engage rising 6th - 8th grade students from our neighborhood schools in a discovery of their environs, University Circle, and Greater Cleveland.
What is essential for a vibrant community? Explorers will learn about health and wellness, sustainability and stewardship, and arts and innovation. They will have an incredible time meeting dynamic entrepreneurs, hiking the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, rowing on the Cuyahoga River, exploring museums, creating art, and building their own community.
The camp runs for six weeks, and students can sign up for the whole camp (6 weeks) or any of the three, two-week modules – Health and Wellness, Sustainability and Stewardship, and Culture and Innovation. Each of the two-week modules runs during each of the following two-week sessions.
Breakfast, lunch, a snack, and transportation to and from your child’s school will be provided by UCI, and COVID-19 precautions – requiring masks, social distancing, and temperature taking – will be in effect. Each cohort of students will be limited to 8 students.
Space is limited! Register now by calling summer programming coordinator, Danielle Gibson at
Health and Wellness
Why are you important and how can you be your best self?
Campers will learn how to be self-aware, develop a growth mindset, and care for their mind and body. Among some of the highlights will be rowing on the Cuyahoga River, hiking in the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes, playing baseball at League Park, and using art and music to connect to your best self.
Sustainability and Stewardship
How do you communities thrive, and what important roles can you play in helping your community thrive?
Learn ways to understand the area’s natural resources, participate in cool science experiments, and preserve your community’s history while envisioning its future. You will learn to observe nature in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, visit the Cleveland History Center, explore nearby beaches and waterways, and learn to safely experience the area on a bicycle.
Arts and Innovation
How do cultural institutions enrich our lives, and how can your creativity address your hopes, dreams, and challenges?
Art and design help individuals express emotions, discover the value of their cultural heritage, and improve the quality of life in communities. Campers will learn about organizations like Karamu House and Shooting Without Bullets, and discover more about graphic arts, performance, and design through hands-on sessions with artists and visits to places like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
