The ancient Jewish book of Judith tells the story of a beautiful, pious widow who seduces an enemy general to his death. This talk will explore questions such as: What does Judith have to do with Hanukkah? Why didn’t her book make it into the Jewish biblical canon? And what is the role of Judith’s womanhood in her story?
