A six-inning baseball game between a blind team and a team of police officers wearing blindfolds
Wade Oval is one of northeast Ohio's premier public spaces, home to events year-round like WOW! Wade Oval Wednesdays, Parade the Circle & Circle Village, and The Rink at Wade Oval. An array of lawn games are available to play on... more
The Cleveland Scrappers are a blind and visually impaired baseball team competing all around the United States against other blind and visually impaired teams. The players pay for all their own expenses, including uniforms, equipment and travel costs.
The Scrappers are the only beep baseball team in Ohio! Since there are no neighboring blind baseball teams in the area, all of their games are out of state. This, of course, gets expensive.
The University Circle Police Department would like to help raise money to offset the team's expenses.
The event will be held on Wade Oval, in the heart of University Circle's museum district. There is no admission to the game. Prizes will be available with the purchase of tickets, along with drinks and snacks. All the funds donated and earned go directly to the Cleveland Scrappers.
Bring your own chairs or a blanket as this game will be held on a grassy field made into a baseball diamond for the morning.
Please join us to enjoy the game and see if you will come away with a new appreciation of your own sense of sight.
