University Circle is one of the largest employment drivers in the state of Ohio. With strong anchor institutions and an abundance of arts & cultural, non-profit, as well as private sector and small businesses, there may be an opportunity waiting for you here in University Circle.
The Friends of the McGaffin Carillon in University Circle is seeking volunteers to help during concerts and other activities around the tower. Volunteers will pass out programs and give information to passers-by and audience members. They will also direct people to the tower for tours. The Friends are making big plans for next June's celebration of the 50th anniversary of the instrument's dedication. and will need some help. The carillon is also very busy place during Holiday CircleFest and this year is no exception. We'll be offering freshly baked Belgian waffles in a tent on the church lawn. Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn about the 47 15,000 lb. bronze bells of the McGaffin Carillon and how and the origins of the carillon art in the Low Countries.
If you're interested in finding out more, come to an informational meeting on Friday, November 17th at 1:15 in the tower. If you've never toured the tower feel free to come by early at 12:45 following the Friday concert for the weekly tour and see how Cleveland biggest musical instrument is played..
