Long Weekend

We’re just as excited as you are about three day weekends! No matter if you are a visitor from Westlake or West Virginia, University Circle is a fantastic weekend destination. Here’s a sample itinerary that covers all the bases – arts and culture, fine dining, shopping, and ahhhh, some down time.

Friday: Arrive in the Circle for a late lunch at Zack Bruell’s Dynomite + Sushi and make a stop in the University Circle Visitor Center to get a few ideas if you are new to University Circle. After getting checked into your hotel, make plans to take in Cleveland Museum of Art (open until 9 p.m. on Fridays) or catch an indie film at Cleveland Cinematheque.

Saturday: Get an early start and head to the Cleveland Museum of Art where the permanent collection is always free. Be sure to look UP and you'll take in a spectacular site -the breathtaking glass atrium that is the gateway to more than 30,000 works of art spanning 5,000 years. If you find yourself lost in the experience, take a lunch break at Provenance, the museum's highly regarded restaurant. After lunch, you are just steps away from the Cleveland Botanical Garden, beautiful in every season, or the Cleveland History Center, a treasure trove of collections that includes the Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum, and the restored famous Euclid Beach Carousel. Saturday evenings are for making memories. If fine dining is your passion, consider a French- inspired meal at L'Albatros. Night owls will want to check out the music scene at the Happy Dog at the Euclid Tavern for a taste of live, local music into the early morning.

Sunday: There's no rush, because Brunch at Trentina, a restored 1910 carriage house, lasts until 2 p.m. You might hear a few melodic church bells as you take a leisurely stroll about Wade Oval. If you have a little time left, head to Cleveland's Little Italy, and purchase some cannoli or biscotti for the road trip home. Along your way, you'll want to stop into the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland (MOCA) where you'll be intrigued and challenged by the creative ideas of contemporary artists.

Be sure to tell your friends and share your distinctly Cleveland experience! We'll hope to see you again here in the Circle.
