Uptown Partners Business Association (UPBA) is an association of businesses located in Cleveland's Uptown neighborhoods of Buckeye-Shaker, Fairfax, Glenville, Hough, Little Italy and University Circle. We are dedicated to increasing the public's awareness of our business members' offerings and to organizing initiatives which enhance the quality of life for residents and the overall experience for visitors. Our members share a common goal of providing quality products and services, resulting in strong customer satisfaction and sustainable business growth. We consider our businesses to be paramount to the continued growth and vitality of the area in and around University Circle.
Member Spotlight
Janis left the corporate world in 2002 to pursue a career in real estate. After watching her husband, a self-employed stockbroker, Janis decided to leave her job as a human resource director to pursue real estate. She enrolled in real estate courses and obtained her license. When she first began, she belonged to a sales team in which she acted as a buyer agent. She would show homes, acquire new clients and determine the right fit for them.
After becoming a licensed realtor, Janis decided to keep her talents in Cleveland. She has an undying commitment to the city and even closer attachment with the Larchmere area, working with John Hopkins, Executive Director of Buckeye Area Development Corporation, and Cheri Ashcraft, Corporate Manager at K&D Group.
Janis has been presented with great opportunities, such as becoming the realtor for two movies that were filming in Cleveland. Janis was responsible for finding short-term housing for the directors and producers.
Since joining UPBA in December 2009, Janis admits to having great networking opportunities with local business owners who are all committed to serving the Greater University Circle area as well. She has benefited by being associated with good quality businesses and their owners and by acquiring good contacts and great knowledge.
