The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission will host a bicycling festival in September, leaders announced today.
NEOCycle — Sept. 28, 2014 — will be a two-day festival of bicycling events, including a race at the Velodrome, a "cyclocross" competitions — a race that include obstacles that riders have to carry their bikes through — a night ride, a street race and a noncompetitive ride.
Though the festival will be rooted at Edgewater Park (called "the hub"), events will take place at other places in Cleveland including the street race at Wade Oval and the race at the Cleveland Velodrome.
The festival will include a build-out by Ray's Indoor Mountain Park, food trucks, a beer garden with Fat Head's and New Belgium breweries, live music and vendors.
Organizers expect 2,000 riders and a $200,000 economic impact at the inaugural event.
