Cleveland Museum of Art offers a first look at its new restaurants, 'Provenance' and 'Provenance Cafe': Restaurant Row
Closely held plans for a restaurant, cafe and private dining facilities attached to the Cleveland Museum of Art's soon-to-debut central atrium have finally been revealed.
Provenance, a 76-seat fine-dining restaurant and lounge occupying roughly 1,200 square feet, and Provenance Cafe, a 67-seat casual-dining spot with an additional 144 seats extending into the adjacent atrium, will open Sunday, Oct. 28.
Both areas, as well as the atrium itself, remain busy construction zones. During a hard-hat tour, wires dangled and ductwork awaited fittings, while painters pushed rollers on giant extension rods as workers drilled and pounded most every surface. There will also be a private dining room that will seat 96 guests, and a separate enclosed banquet space for nearly 200. The atrium itself, a vast, sunny space planted with an expanse of bamboo, will accommodate more than 1,000 guests for major functions.
Lonnie Timmons III, The Plain Dealer Chef Doug Katz will serve as partner chef at Provenance restaurant at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
By studying artist renderings of the room designs, and by gazing beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows along the dining rooms' back walls to the Fine Arts Garden and Wade Park, it is apparent that the integration of interior design and naturescape promise a lovely harmony.
