Summer Discovery Camps
June 16th- August 8th
Ages 4-6 years old
Your child is creative and energetic! The CMC has the right combination of hands-on learning activities to inspire your child to have a fun and imaginative summer. All of our multidisciplinary Discovery Camps offer science experiments, art exploration, music and movement and free-play in museum exhibits and outdoor garden. Camps welcome 4, 5 and 6 year old children. A multi-age curriculum has been developed that will encourage teamwork and creativity. Themes for 2014 include Superhero Science, In My Own Backyard, In My Own Backyard, Fairytale Adventure, Invent It, Art Meets Science, Kitchen Chemistry and Dinosaur Dig. Camps run from June 16th to August 8th.  There will be no camp the week of the July 4th holiday.

CLEVELAND BOTANICAL GARDEN

Summer Camp- Session 1
Monday - Friday, June 16-20
9:00am-12:00pm
Preschool/Kindergarten- 2nd grade
Campers in Preschool – 2nd grade will study the summer Nature Connects exhibit and find out the science behind the sculptures. Students will learn through games, science, books, garden exploration and building.

Students are dropped off at camp, as this program begins before the Garden opens to the public. Additional paperwork for parents to complete with child's information will be provided upon registration.

NEW THIS YEAR! Campers may also add an extended lunch option from 12 pm – 1pm for $60/week. The full week must be added, partial dates are not permitted. Please register in advance online or by calling 216.721.1600 x100.

Summer Camp – Session 2
Monday - Friday, June 23-27
9:00am-12:00pm
ages 3rd-6th grade
Campers in 3rd-6th grade will learn about the cells, structure and function of plants using the summer Nature Connects exhibits. Camp includes tours of exhibits, art, science, books and the Gardens.

Students are dropped off at camp, as this program begins before the Garden opens to the public. Additional paperwork for parents to complete with child's information will be provided upon registration.

CLEVELAND MUSEUM OF ART

Innovation through Environmental Design
June 23-27, 9:00-3:30
This one-week camp for 7th and 8th grade students uses the principles of design allowing for experimentation, creativity, and problem-solving.  This collaborative camp allows campers to use the natural environment as a jumping off point for creative expression.  Campers explore the ways that artists and architects solve design challenges at that Cleveland Museum of Art.  Campers engage in art-making at the Butler campus including printing, mud painting, sculptures that float.  The week culminates with the creation of a large-scale outdoor sculpture or installation at the Butler campus.

Ceramic Creativity
June 23-27, 9:00-3:30
This camp for 5th and 6th grade students fosters creativity through the tactile medium of ceramics.  Students will be encouraged to push the ceramic medium as far as their imagination can take them.  This camp includes exploration of the Cleveland Museum of Art’s vast collection of ceramic works from around the world.  We will experiment with various hands-on methods of ceramic construction and decoration, including raku, faience, and slip.  The week culminates with an outdoor firing of a piece of raku pottery.   Register through the Summer at Laurel Office at 216-455-0154 or Summer@LaurelSchool.org
