It Can Only Happen Here

Octavofest

October 1st - October 31st, 2012

In the age of e-books, and with information technology evolving on a nearly daily basis, there is still a strong community of partners that honors the art of the printed book. Each October, over two dozen partners around Northeast Ohio collaborate to bring Octavofest to life.

Octavofest (which takes its name from a traditional bookmaking format) celebrates the love of books and paper arts through diverse programs and events. Octavofest events include exhibits, lectures, workshops, and classes on bookmaking, papermaking, printmaking, rare book collections and collecting, and others that honor the wonderful book.

Beginning in 2009, Octavofest partners collaborated in celebrating and promoting books, book arts, paper making, and rare and unique library collections with members of the community in Northeast Ohio. Building on the momentum of events and exhibits from previous years, Octavofest continues to grow in programs, workshops, and partners with exciting new additions planned for 2012.

Octavofest has something for every book lover and enthusiast. For information on exhibits, programs, and workshops please visit Octavofest.org or “Like” us on Facebook or “Follow” us on Twitter.

As part of Octavofest, Cleveland Public Library (CPL) and the Ohio Center for the Book, developed “Little Free Libraries” for the entire community to get involved in the annual celebration of books and paper arts.

The Little Free Libraries help build community through the sharing of books and reading. People can take out free books from the Little Free Libraries and are encouraged to leave behind a book of their own.
