What's in a name?
University Circle got its name from the Euclid Avenue trolley turnaround which made its turn near what is now the Children's Museum of Cleveland and Case Western Reserve University.

- University Circle is home to the world-renowned Cleveland Orchestra, a part of the “Big 5” of American symphonic music, including Boston, New York City, Philadelphia and Chicago.
- Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital is the #1 children's hospital in the entire Midwest, according to U.S. News & World Report.
- The Cleveland Clinic was named named one of the nation’s top three hospitals and #1 heart center in U.S. News & World Report's annual “America’s Best Hospitals” survey
What does UCI do for University Circle?
- UCI runs the University Circle Police Department (UCPD) which consists of 26 officers who serve under the command of Chief Timothy Peppard.
- UCI's Community Education Department promotes University Circle as the center of life-long learning by connecting the resources of world-class institutions to students of all ages and backgrounds through informal education programs.
- UCI hosts three signature events each year that draw more than 100,000 visitors to the Circle.
- In a partnership with CityWheels, UCI recently brought the first car sharing program to the city of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County.
- UCI runs a banner program which includes the hanging of more than 400 banners throughout the Circle to enliven the streetscape and promote special events.
- UCI manages the Cleveland Cultural Collaborative
- UCI maintains, rehabilitates, and manages real estate in University Circle including apartment complexes, houses, commercial properties, and several acres of open space.
