Technical Services Librarian

Hours and Rate
This is a full time position, and work schedule will vary. Flexibility to work weekend and evening hours is required during the academic year (approximately third week in August to third week in May). All librarians are asked to participate in weekend rotation during the academic year.

Main Responsibilities 

Major technical services responsibilities include cataloging and classifying all library materials (except images) according to AACR2 cataloging rules and in coordination with CWRU and OhioLINK library system protocols; supervising all aspects of library material processing including working with commercial bindery staff; overseeing acquisition operations; coordinating OCLC operations; and supervising and training staff. Under the direction of the Library Director, the Technical Services Librarian also provides quality library service to all patrons, including circulation, OhioLINK, reference, and instructional services.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited library school and between one to three years of professional level cataloging experience with full MARC formats, AACR2 cataloging rules, LCSH, and metadata; using OCLC or other utilities; an integrated library system (preferably Innovative’s Millennium system); and other aspects of technical services. Academic library background and experience working within a consortial library environment preferred, as is a background in art or art history. Additional requirements are proven customer service experience, excellent communication skills, and strong computer skills.
