CCCThe Cleveland Cultural Collaborative (CCC) was created by the Cleveland Botanical Garden, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, and The Western Reserve Historical Society. In October of 2006, these institutions, in conjunction with UCI, hired Laura Kleinman to lead this initiative.The primary objective of the CCC is to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery at each one of these institutions. Through the establishment of co-op buying partnerships and shared service programs, the Collaborative will help these institutions increase revenues,lower operating costs, and improve the visitor experience. HISTORY OF CCC In 2004, the Directors from the CCC institutions determined that each of their organizations could achieve more by working together than each could achieve by working alone. The Directors approached the local foundation community, which, in turn, supported a year long study which assessed the feasibility of creating such a collaborative and exploring the type of impact it might have. A steering committee chose LORD Cultural Resources Planning & Management, Inc. to perform this study and prepare a report. “Planning for the Implementation of the Cleveland Cultural Collaborative” was issued in February of 2006. The report identified five distinct areas in which the CCC will spearhead individual initiatives: • Organizational Capacity • Procurement • Earned Income and Attendance • Contributed Income • Visitor Experience CURRENT ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE • Oversight Council • Quarterly Meetings • Evaluate to Plan • CCC Director provides monthly written reports to Council EXPLORATORY PERIOD The Collaborative has spent the last quarter of 2006 investigating potential initiatives and assessing member interest. Some of the projects currently under consideration or implementation include: • Waste management Recycling Program/Group Contract • Parking Coordination for Spring 2007, including maps, signage, staffing • Shared Fleet Program • Group Office Supplies contract • New joint ticketing or membership product The CCC is interested in working with other University Circle institutions when possible.
