Uptown Business Association

Uptown Business Association (UBA) is an association of businesses located in Cleveland's Uptown neighborhoods of Buckeye-Shaker, Fairfax, Glenville, Hough, Little Italy and University Circle. We are dedicated to increasing the public's awareness of our business members' offerings and to organizing initiatives which enhance the quality of life for residents and the overall experience for visitors.

Our members share a common goal of providing quality products and services, resulting in strong customer satisfaction and sustainable business growth. We consider our businesses to be paramount to the continued growth and vitality of the area in and around University Circle.

NextStep: Strategies for Business Growth

Since 2014, UCI has provided the NextStep program to support local business leaders on their path to growth and success. NextStep uses The StreetWise ‘MBA’™, an award winning executive training curriculum which gives business owners access to business knowledge, management know-how, and relationships for their businesses to flourish in today’s competitive marketplace. Our 7 month NextStep program gives you access to our network of volunteer professionals and mentors. Instructor facilitated class meets every other week for three hours at a University Circle location. At the end of the program, participants walk away with an individualized Strategic Growth Action Plan™outlining the action steps required to achieve their business goals.

Financial Literacy Program

With support from Citizens Bank Foundation, UCI offers a financial management class for Greater University Circle business owners. The class includes the provision of and basic training on QuickBooks software as well as 3 months of bookkeeping services. UCI plans to offer a new and improved program to at least 16 business owners in 2016/17.
